Message from President

My name is Alan Heide, a member of the University of La Verne baseball team and current Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) President.  After transferring to La in 2010, I was very reserved when I first got to the University and wasn’t involved in anything outside of the baseball and debate teams.  My coach sent me along with my fellow teammate Zach Perez to be the baseball representatives for the SAAC.

I took an immediate leadership position after winning the vote to become President for the following year. I then attended our SAAC meeting within the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) later in the spring where I was voted Chair of the SCIAC’s Student Athlete-Advisory Committee.  As I look back at my junior year, I am tremendously proud of everything we accomplished as a Student-Athlete body in 2010-11, but this year we intend to broaden the horizons of our goals within SAAC.

As President my goal in the 2011-2012 Academic year is to enhance the experience for every single Student-Athlete that goes to this University.  Create positive environments for both the students and the athletes to meet and create friendships that will last.  My goal as an entire SAAC is to involve the Student-Athlete world more with regular students and commuter student events.

My personal goal as SAAC President is to influence the lives of every person I meet by being a role model, friend and mentor to all that cross my path. I have said before and will repeat that the 2011-2012 academic year is the most important year in recent history of the University of La Verne’s athletic body to come together to be a strong voice within our campus community.

It is my responsibility to ensure that all SAAC representatives are leaders, not only within our group but within other respected clubs and organizations at La Verne and beyond. I firmly believe that every SAAC member that is a part of the 2011-2012 SAAC is a stand out person and leader within our community and I am privileged to be their President.

We strive to be leaders in life and more importantly, Leos for life.  La Verne's Student Athlete Advisory Committee is here to serve every individual student-athlete, and that is what we will work to do every single day.
