Ludvik, Moralez, Cerafice Earn ABCA All-West Region Honors
The trio of Jacob Ludvik, Jason Moralez and Anthony Cerafice each represented the University of La Verne on the American Baseball Coaches Association Division III All-West Region Team for the 2012 season.
Ludvik was a First Team selection while Moralez was named to the Second Team. Cerafice garnered Third Team honors.
A senior from Diamond Bar, Ludvik finished the regular season with a team-high .405 batting average, which ranked third among conference leaders on his way to a First Team All-SCIAC selection. He led the SCIAC in doubles with 17 and was among the league leaders in hits (66), runs scored (43), total bases, and runs batted in (36). Defensively he recorded 120 putouts at the centerfield positon.
A junior from Murrieta, Moralez hit .329 during the regular season with 3 home runs and a team-high 44 RBI, recording 51 hits while scoring 28 runs as the Leopards' starting catcher. He was named First Team All-SCIAC, earning All-League honors for the second consecutive year.
A senior from Claremont, Cerafice posted a 6-1 record along with a 2.93 earned run average in addition to recording 4 saves in his 18 appearances to also earn First Team All-SCIAC accolades. He registered 42 strikeouts in 55.1 innings pitched. The Leopards were 13-1 in his 14 appearances during conference play.
La Verne finished the season with a 26-16 overall record and a 20-8 conference mark en route to earning the SCIAC title in 2012, its 20th league crown in program history.
