La Verne sophomore running back Matthew Biggers was named to the D3football.com National Team Of The Week after his outstanding performance last weekend against Pomona-Pitzer.
Biggers ran for a career-high 235 yards on 24 carries (9.8 yards per rush) and a pair of touchdowns in the Leopards' 52-7 conference win over the Sagehens on November 7 to notch his first-ever 200-yard rushing game.
A product out of J.W. North High School in Riverside, Biggers had already posted a pair of 100-yard rushing games this season prior to his breakout performance against the Sagehens. He leads the Leopard squad in rushing with 546 yards on 85 attempts (6.4 yards per rush).
La Verne concludes the 2011 regular season this Saturday as it hosts Whittier College in a 1:00 pm start.
