La Verne Claims First Place At SCIAC #4
The University of La Verne golf team earned its fourth consecutive conference win of the season with a four-player team total of 294 at the SCIAC #4 Monday at Brookside Country Club in Pasadena.
The Leopards, ranked #8 nationally, captured the tournament by seven strokes over second-place Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (301). Redlands finished in third at 305 followed by Pomona-Pitzer (307), Cal Lutheran (310), Occidental (316) and Whittier (368).
Junior Rizal Amin enjoyed the top ULV placing with a round of 72 to finish in a tie for first place. The Leopard trio of senior Chris Davis, sophomore Andrew Kramer and freshman Kevin Smith each finished in a tie for fifth with respective rounds of 74.
Other Leopard competitors included Jordan Talah and Mitchell Fedorka, both of whom carded a 75 to finish in a tie for ninth overall.
La Verne next competes at the SCIAC #5 held Thursday, April 24 at Sterling Hills Golf Club in Camarillo.
