Golf Takes First Place At SCIAC #4

The University of La Verne golf team won its second conference meet of the season by capturing the SCIAC #4 Tournament Monday at Industry Hills Golf Club.

La Verne was the only school to break 300 on the day, finishing with a team total of 299 to claim first place.  Redlands placed second at 302 followed by Whittier who placed third at 305.  Claremont-Mudd-Scripps earned fourth place at 319 followed by Occidental (319), Pomona-Pitzer (321), Chapman (322) and Cal Lutheran (324).

The Leopards were paced by senior Mitch Fedorka, who tied for the low round of the tournament by firing a 71 (36-35) on the Par 71 course to earn medalist honors.  Fedorka tied with Whittier's Andrew Moreno-Hunt who also shot 71.

Two other Leopard competitors placed in the Top 10 as Ryan Waring shot 73 (37-36) to finish fifth while Eric Bunge fired a 76 (39-37) to place tied for eighth.

Keven Holliday shot 79 to finish tied for 20th overall while Kevin Smith finished tied for 25th with an 80 for the tournament.  La Verne's depth was evident by the performance of senior Adam Hancock, who shot a 71 competing as an individual.

The Leopards resume conference action on April 18th as it competes in the SCIAC #5 at Brookside Country Club.
