La Verne Ranked 5th In Division III Poll

The University of La Verne golf team moved up two spots to fifth in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Division III Top 25 Poll released Wednesday.

The Leopards competed twice during the fall, placing third at the Lamkin Grip Intercollegiate (Sept. 26) before earning a dominating victory at the CMS Invitational nearly a month later (Oct. 20).

Guilford (NC) remains as the nation's top-ranked team followed by Huntingdon (PA), St. John's (MN), Methodist (NC) and La Verne to comprise the Top 5 schools.

The poll combines the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

La Verne was won four consecutive SCIAC crowns and will begin defense of its title on Feb. 11, 2011 at the SCIAC #1 at Redlands Country Club.
