Leopards Finish Seventh At Jekyll Invitational

Competing in the nation's top Division III tournament, the University of La Verne ended its weekend placing seventh overall with a three-round total of 889 (+25) at Pine Lakes Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia.

La Verne finished with a third round performance of 293.  Defending NCAA Champion Methodist University (N.C.) placed first in the team standings with a total of 871 (+7) followed by Emory (Ga.) which finished two strokes behind at 873 to take second place. 

Among individuals, Nick Ericson paced the Leopards with a 215 total (-1) to finish in a tie for seventh.  Ericson completed action on Sunday with a 72 following his first two rounds of 69 and 73.  Ericson was one of nine golfers in the field to finish under par for the tournament.

Eric Bunge finished his weekend with a total of 220 (76-70-74) to tie for 22nd.  Both Andrew Roque and Kevin Smith each finished with three-round totals of 227 tie for 51st while Matt Bernal concluded with a 234 to place tied for 86th.

The Leopards enjoyed the top finish among West Region competitors in the field while Ericson earned the highest individual placing of West Region participants.

La Verne returns to conference action on Tuesday as it takes part in the SCIAC #3 on Tuesday at Sierra Lakes Golf Club.
