Leopards 14th At Braveheart Classic
The University of La Verne golf team finished tied for 14th at UC Riverside's Braveheart Classic Tournament played at the Oak Valley Golf Club Monday and Tuesday. The Leopards shot 606 on Monday (306-300) and then ended up with a 318 on Tuesday for a three-round 924 total over the two days.
Division I Long Beach State took the team title with a three-round total of 870 followed by Loyola Marymount (872) which finished second. La Verne was one of three Division III schools in the 15-team field.
Andrew Roque (75-72-81) and Eric Bunge (74-74-80) paced the Leopards during the tournament with each shooting 228 to finish in a tie for 36th among individuals. Both Nick Ericson (79-76-79) and Kevin Smith (78-78-78) shot 234 to tie for 63rd overall.
Josh Haynes finished with a three-round total of 235 to place in a tie for 67th while Matt Bernal shot 236 to finish tied for 71st.
La Verne will resume conference action this weekend for the SCIAC #5 to be held Sunday at Tierra Rejada Golf Club in Simi Valley.
