Riehle Accepts UC Riverside Head Coaching Post
Eric Riehle, who has served as golf coach at the University of La Verne for the past four seasons, has accepted the head coaching position at UC Riverside.
At La Verne, Riehle was named the 2011 Division III West Region Coach of the Year and guided the Leopards to four straight SCIAC Conference Championships. His team finished second at the NCAA Championships in 2009 and placed fifth in 2010. La Verne finished in the Top 15 nationally the past two seasons.
"We wish Eric nothing but the best as he embarks on his new position at UC Riverside," said Julie Kline, University of La Verne Director of Athletics. "We were so fortunate to have Coach Riehle. His leadership of our golf program over the last four years has been tremendous as evident by the success of our student athletes both on and off the course. We will work to ensure a smooth and successful transition of new leadership for our nationally recognized men's golf program."
Riehle came to La Verne as associate head coach in 2009 and was promoted to head coach the following year. During his tenure at La Verne, eight players earned All-American honors, with Mitch Fedorka earning the Division III Jack Nicklaus Award as the National Player of the Year in 2009. In his four seasons, he compiled a Division III record of 384-71-3.
