CHINO HILLS, Calif. — Hisham Hussein finished day one tied for third individually and the No. 14 University of La Verne men's golf team ended the opening round of the 2018 SCIAC Men's Golf Championships at Los Serranos Country Club in third place.

The Leopards ended with a total score of 296, 10 strokes behind current leader Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Four Leopards finished in the top-15. The SCIAC Champion will be determined on the cumulative score from all seven rounds of SCIAC play this season.

He bogeyed the sixth but recovered on the ninth with a birdie to go out with a 36.
