La Verne Falls 1-0 to Stags

The University of La Verne men’s soccer team took on the Stags from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday morning in Claremont. Despite their best efforts, the Leopards fell in a 1-0 final.

The Leopards out shot the Stags 15-12 but were not able to score. CMS got on the board at the very end of the first half. Sam Ullman was able to score off an assist by Stefan Gonzalez and Mitchell Skotarczyk with only 30 seconds left of play before half time.  The score would remain 1-0 giving the Stags a victory over the Leopards.

The aggressive play in this match resulted in fourteen CMS fouls compared to La Verne's eighteen. Both teams also received three yellow cards a piece.

La Verne is now 4-9-1 over and 4-7 in SCIAC. CMS improves to 11-2-2 overall and 9-1-2 in conference.

The Leopards will play the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens on Monday in Claremont. The match will starts at 4:00pm.
