Crescencio Gonzalez, a former player at Azusa Pacific University and a longtime assistant for the University of La Verne soccer program, enters his 11th season as head coach in 2012. Gonzalez worked as an assistant for the men's team for seven seasons before taking over as head coach prior to the 2002 campaign.

Gonzalez has elevated the Leopard program to respectability during his tenure.  In 2005, he guided La Verne to a second-place finish, and in 2008 he again directed the Leopard team to a second place finish.  In both the 2007 and 2008 campaigns, La Verne earned a berth in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament.

Before taking over as head coach, he served as an assistant for the men's and women's team for three seasons. During his playing days, Gonzalez was a defender for APU during the 1984 and '85 seasons.

Gonzalez, who earned both his undergraduate and master's degrees from Azusa Pacific, also serves as La Verne's assistant athletic director for facilities.
