Hugar Steps Down As Water Polo Coach
Tim Hugar has announced his resignation as head men's and women's water polo coach at the University of La Verne, concluding a reign that spanned 11 seasons since the inception of both programs in 1997.
During that time, he elevated both programs to both conference and national prominence, producing numerous All-Americans and All-SCIAC performers.
Hugar led the ULV men's team to the 2000 SCIAC Championship in only its third year of existence. For his efforts, Hugar was named the 2000 Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Coach of the Year to become one of four La Verne coaches to ever receive a national coach of the year award. Additionally, the Leopard men's teams have been ranked in the national Top Ten almost every season under his tenure. He has also coached two La Verne athletes to SCIAC and national player-of-the-year honors.
Prior to his arrival at La Verne, Hugar won championships at both Princeton University and Slippery Rock University. During his head coaching tenure, Hugar has coached more than 30 All-Americans.
