Cvengros Joins Leopard XC Staff

Head cross country coach Mike Atwood has announced the hiring of Erin Cvengros as graduate assistant coach.  Cvengros arrives to La Verne after a successful collegiate career at Hillsdale College in Michigan.

Her role will be working with both the men's and women's teams by assisting in conducting workouts, training with the women's team, recruiting, among many other activities.

"We are pleased and excited to have Erin on board," Atwood said.  "She can identify closely with La Verne student-athletes, and has over nine years experience in both cross country and track and field.

At Hillsdale, Cvengros was an All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) performer, qualifing for the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships in the 5,000 meters.  Additionally, she served as captain of the Hillsdale women's cross country team for two seasons.

Cvengros continues to run competitively, recently finishing 14th overall in the Detroit Marathon.  A 2010 graduate of Hillsdale, Cvengros earned her bachelor's degree in Economics.  She is currently enrolled in La Verne's MBA program.

"I'm thrilled to be a part of the Leopard program," said Cvengros.  "I looking forward to working with Coach Atwood and the talented student-athletes and also look forward to helping this program continue its upward momemtum."

Atwood added that among Erin’s strengths is her ability to connect with other runners.  "She is confident and comfortable in coaching the sport. She is very personable and would be a great representative as a coach and a recruiter."

The Leopard men's and women's cross country teams open their season September 3 at the Cal State Fullerton Invitational.
