La Verne would draw even with a run in both the third and fourth innings. Jackie Duran's solo homer in the top of the fourth knotted the game at 4-4.
The Athenas again would pull away with a five-run inning, this time in the fifth, to provide the final margin of victory in a 9-4 final.
