Tittl Heads to SCIAC Championships After Solid Performance at Prelims
The University of La Verne divers competed in the 2012 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Diving Championships hosted at the Thompson Aquatic Center at the University of Redlands. The preliminary rounds were Saturday, February 11th, and Sunday, February 12th, followed by the finals this Saturday, February 18th.
Sophomore Jacob Tittl had a successful first day of Prelims competing in the 1-meter dive event. After performing 11 dives, Tittl finished in 5th place with a score of 372.25. Senior Daniel Sillas is had a 12th place with a score of 105.15
On Sunday, the second day of prelims, the divers competed in the 3-meter dive event. Once again, each diver performed 11 dives in the competition. Tittl scored 379.80, giving him a fourth place finish. Sillas finished 12th with a score of 124.25.
This coming Saturday, February 18th, the top eight competitors, regardless of school affiliation, perform 11 dives to determine the final standings on each board. The morning competition will begin at 11 a.m. and the afternoon portion will start at 3 p.m. The championships will be held at the Thompson Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Redlands.
