LA VERNE, Calif. — Noelle Cobb posted her first double-double of the season but the La Verne women's basketball team lost to Cal Lutheran 74-49 on Wednesday night at Sports Science and Athletic Pavilion.
Cobb, who missed a couple games at the start of conference play due to an injury, has been rounding back into form and had her best game since the calendar flipped. She flashed nifty post moves, hit some jumpers and was active on the boards.
Cal Lutheran's Jessica Salottolo led all players with 19 points and Haley Hodgson had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
La Verne falls to 1-15 overall and 1-5 in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Cal Lutheran improves to 9-6 and 5-1.
Hodgson set the tone early, scoring eight points and grabbing six boards in the first quarter as the Regals ran out to a 25-10 lead. Cal Lutheran started the game on a 10-0 run and Hodgson scored six points during that streak.
The Leopards scored the first two baskets of the second quarter to get within 11 but the Regals ripped off another run of 10 unanswered points to grab a 35-14 lead and never looked back.
La Verne is back in action on Saturday against Caltech.
