SPOKANE, Wash. — Three Leopards finished in double figures but couldn't overcome a first half deficit, falling to the Whitworth Pirates on the road 95-73.
Nyjeeiah Ganan led La Verne with 14 points. Ganan also dished out three assists and grabbed three boards.
Bailey Kurahashi knocked down three shots from beyond the arc on her way to totaling 13 points.
Jessica Hanashiro scored 12 points on five for six shooting from the field with two three-pointers. the Hawaii native nearly notched a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds to go with three steals.
After La Verne trailed by just five after the first quarter, the Leopards went cold in the second quarter and the Pirates took advantage, extending their lead to 45-31 at the half.
The Leopards outscored Whitman in the final period, but couldn't overcome the deficit.
The Pirates were led by Madison Moffat's 23 points.
Season Impact: The Leopards move to 0-2. Whitworth improves to 2-0.
