La Verne Drops Road Game to Sagehens

The University of La Verne women's soccer team traveled to Claremont to take on the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday night. Despite their best efforts, the Leopards fell in a 3-0 finish.

The Sagehens outshot the Leopards 18 to 6 in the contest.  Pomona-Pitzer scored all three of their goals in the first half of play. Traci Lopez scored the first goal in the 12th minute of the game assisted by Samantha Thompson. Claudia Zaugg scored the next two goals in the 23rd and 32nd minute. La Verne's defense would hold strong for the remainder of the game, holding the Hens scoreless in the second half of play.

La Verne goalie, Delanie Pacheco had five saves, giving her 76 for the season.

The Leos are now 2-8-3 overall and 1-7 in SCIAC, while the Sagehens improve to 8-4 overall and 5-3 in conference.

La Verne will be on the road again on Saturday night as they head to Los Angeles to take on the Tigers of Occidental College. The game begins at 7:00pm
