ULV Outlasted In Home Opener

The host University of La Verne women's tennis team lost their home opener to Cal State San Bernardino, 9-0, Monday afternoon at the Claremont Tennis Club.

ULV (0-2) fell behind 3-0 to visiting CSUSB (1-0) after dropping each of the three doubles matches. The upperclassmen duo of Lacey Wiles and Nicole Harden came closest in earning a point for the Leopards, but dropped the No. 1 match 8-4 to Coyotes' Jennifer Goy and Leslie Horn.

La Verne took another downfall in singles competition when the Coyotes produced a sweep. Senior Jennifer Schiller generated a competitive effort at No. 4, but Brittany Choate proved too strong and defeated Schiller on scores of 6-4, 6-2.

At No. 1, Harden fell 6-1, 6-0 to Goy as Wiles lost the No. 2 contest to Horn, 6-0, 6-2. The Coyotes also took singles No. 3, 5 and 6.

The Leopards conclude their two-match homestand Wednesday as they host La Sierra University at the Bonita High School Tennis Courts at 5 p.m
