The University of La Verne dropped its home match against Chapman University, falling to the Panthers in a 9-0 verdict Friday afternoon at The Claremont Club.
Chapman gained momentum in doubles competition, claiming all three matches. In #3 doubles, the Leopard duo of Valerie Lezin and Brooke Hines battled the Panthers' tandem of Sophia Duong and Cassady Siriois before dropping an 8-5 decision. At #1 doubles, Danielle Kaiden and Kelly Klebenow teamed to defeat Laina Matsuda and Allison Moncrief, 8-2 while Melissa Boyer and Amy Logan topped the Leopards' Tarika Krishnamurthy and Carly Tucker, 8-4.
The Panthers won each of their singles matches in straight sets. At #3 singles, Moncrief nearly extended her match to a third set but Genna Ford would prevail 6-2, 7-5. The #6 singles match was the final contest to conclude with Lezin bowing to Siriois by scores of 6-3, 6-4 .
La Verne drops to 3-3 on the season and will return to action next weekend when it hosts Biola (March 9) and Vassar (March 10) in successive days.
