Tennis Tops Tigers For Third Consecutive Win

The University of La Verne tennis team picked up its third consecutive win in earning an 8-1 triumph over Occidental College in conference action during the Leopards' Senior Day on Saturday at The Claremont Club.

The Leopards took all three doubles matches and closed by winning five of six singles contests. 

In doubles, the team of Laina Matsuda and Alison Moncrief topped Rachel Buckner and Sara Charney at No.1 by an 8-5 final.  The Leopard tandem of Carly Tucker and Brooke Hines outlasting Frances Hutton and Rachel Wachstein at No. 2.  The No. 3 duo of Valerie Lezin and Arielle Monteilh topped the team of Katrina Gould and Amber Gadsden, 8-6.

Matsuda (No. 1), Tarika Krishnamurthy (No. 2), Hines (No. 3) and Moncrief (No. 5) all won their respective singles matches in straight sets with Lezin (No. 6) rallying to stop Gadsden in a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 verdict.
