Leopards Finish Season in SCIAC Tournament
The Leopards hosted the SCIAC Tournament this weekend, and though they fell to the University of Redlands (17-8) and Cal Lutheran (18-12), La Verne was able to take 7th place after a victory over Caltech (13-5).
La Verne tallied nine goals in the first half of play, six of them coming from the second quarter, while Caltech was held to just one goal. The Leopards would go on to score three goals in the third quarter and one in fourth. The Beavers scored just four goals in the second half resulting in a 13-5 Leo victory. Bethie Ross and Anjuli Palos De La Rosa both scored three goals in the match. Erika Vargas and Alexandra Escobar each had two.
Escobar scored four goals against Cal Lu. Vargas and Ross each tallied three goals in that match. In the game against Redlands Vargas scored a team high of three goals, followed by Ross and Katie Lacek who each had two goals.
Goalie Lauren Shapard recorded nine saves this weekend, while Shane Burgess had six.
La Verne finished the season with a 9-22 overall record and 2-8 conference record.
