La Verne Opens 2008 Season At Redlands Invite

The University of La Verne women's cross country team opened its 2008 campaign with a ninth-place team finish Saturday at the Redlands Invitational.

The Leopard squad was paced by the duo of Krista Marquez and Micaela Castillo, who turned in times of 26:16.65 and 26:38.01, respectively.  Both runners finished in the top half of all competitors in the field. 

Other La Verne participants included Amanda Santos, who crossed the tape in 27:50.19, Bridgett Blazys, who finished in 28:14.94 and Brittany Lokar, who completed the six-kilometer course in 28:37.67.

La Verne will next be in action at the UC Riverside Invitational on September 27.
