Castillo and Barrese Propel Leopards At Pomona-Pitzer Invite

The duo of Micaela Castillo and Katie Barrese once again paced the University of La Verne women's cross country team at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont on Saturday as both runners earned Top 40 finishes.

Both runners impressed in a field which included over 200 competitors.  Castillo completed the six-kilometer course in 23:13.4 to place 35th overall with Barrese finishing in 23:17.9 to earn a 39th place finish.

As a team, the Leopards placed 13th overall with a total team time of 2:04.22.40 for an average of 24:52.48.  Cal State San Marcos placed first overall in the team standings.

The Leopard contingent also included Andrea Arceo who ran 24:26.0 for an 84th place finish, and Sydney Rose who placed 113th with a time of 25:03.3.

La Verne will next compete at the SCIAC Multi Dual meet held Saturday, October 15 at La Mirada Park.
