How It Happened

The Leopards jumped out to a 19-11 lead in the opening set and looked set to roll to a 1-0 set lead. But the Beavers refused to go down and battled to cut the deficit to 23-21. Celaya and Chandler ensured Beavers wouldn't pull the early upset and put down the final two kills for La Verne.

The script flipped in the second set with the Beavers taking a 23-21 lead before a pair of kills from Richardson evened the match 1-1.

After trading points early in the third set, the Leopards jumped out to a 15-10 lead and stayed ahead of the Leopards the rest of the way to take the 2-1 lead.

La Verne used their best hitting of the night in the fourth set, hitting .349 as a team to complete the win.

Next Game

With just four matches left in the regular season, every opportunity for a win grows more important for the Leopards. La Verne gets back to action with a 4 p.m. match at Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday.
