LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne men's soccer team hosted the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs Thursday night, falling in the nonconference matchup 3-0.
The Leopards celebrated their six seniors,
Angel Cardenas,
Oscar Mendoza,
Mario Urbina,
Rogelio Chaidez,
Alexander Villanueva-Ontiveros, and
Brandon Castro in a pregame ceremony.
"It's nice to see those guys out there playing together. I thought the attitude was good and everyone on the bench was really positive. Obviously, we would like a better result. It took us a while to calm down because a couple of the seniors hadn't played much due to injury. It's nice to see the families out here and have that support." said University of La Verne men's soccer head coach
Trevor Persson.
Castro finished the game with eight saves.
La Verne closes out their season at home against Occidental this Saturday.
"I would like to get a win so we can finish with a winning record. We played against Oxy well in the first game. I have a really good feeling it will turn out like the Cal Lu game where it's back and forth. Hopefully, we put some goals in the net and send everyone off on a good note to end the season."
The Leopards and Tigers kickoff at 7 p.m.
