LA VERNE, CA — Zacky Coaston has been named SCIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced Monday.

Coaston was a force defensively for the Leopards in wins over Cal Lutheran and Whitter. 

"Zacky's energy and dominating presence at the net has been a huge part of our recent success. The last few weeks, she's been a spark plug for our team and is playing some great volleyball right now," said University of La Verne head coach Jeff Hendershot.

In a four-set win at Cal Lutheran, Coaston registered a staggering career-high 13 total blocks. She followed up that performance the next date with five blocks in a sweep over Whittier College to help secure second place in the SCIAC. She also contributed seven kills, an assist and one dig.

La Verne will host No. 3 Pomona-Pitzer on Thursday, November 9, at 7 p.m. in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament Semifinals.
