LA VERNE, Calif. - In the second game of the Gary Troyer Tournament for the University of La Vern, the Leopards men's water polo team took Westcliff University to the wire.Â
La Verne put up a strong attacking effort showcasing their abilities in the first half. With two goals, Peter Trinh stood out as a prolific scorer, while Ryan Beery and Nico Buono both chipped in with one. Eric Bates, the goalkeeper, was a rock in front of the goal, making four significant saves to keep the Leopards in the game. Both teams went into the half tied at 8-8.
The Leopards continued to play aggressively in the second half, but fell in a close one at the buzzer, 16-15.
Trinh, who scored three goals for La Verne, distinguished himself as the game's top performer. The team's goalie, Bates, was crucial in curbing the opponents by making a total of six saves. With one goal each, Beery and Nicolo Buono also contributed significantly.
Next Game: The Leopards will play Wagner College and Cal State Fullerton at 11:40 and 3:40 on Saturday, September 30th, for day two of the Gary Troyer Tournament.
