Ray Named Player of the Year, Whiteman, Coaston Tabbed All-Region

Lexington, KY — Three University of La Verne women's volleyball players earned Region 10 All-Region honors the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced Wednesday.

Mya Ray was named the Region 10 Player of the Year and earned First Team honors. Allison Whiteman picked up First Team recognition and Zacky Coaston was tabbed an Honorable Mention.

It is Ray's third-straight First Team All-Region honor and first Region 10 Player of the Year award. Ray was named the Region 10 Freshman of the Year in 2022. Ray has dominated offensively this season. In NCAA Division III, she ranks 8th in points per set (5.15) points per set, 13th in kills per set (4.27), 27th in total points (476), and 45th in kills (393). She is currently third in La Verne history with 1301 career kills.

Whiteman picked up All-Region honors in her first year with the Leopards. The grad transfer ranks in the top five in the SCIAC in total aces and aces per set

Coaston also earns All-Region honors for the first time in her career. The sophomore is tied for second in DIII with 140 total blocks and ranks third with 1.47 blocks per set.

The Leopards are set to open the NCAA Tournament tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. PST against Messiah University.
