Ray, Whiteman Named All-Americans

Lexington, KY — Mya Ray and Allison Whiteman are All-Americans the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced Wednesday.

Complete All-American List

Ray was named a First Team All-American and Whiteman picked up All-American Honorable Mention recognition.

Ray is now a three-time All-American and two-time first-team selection. She was also named the Region 10 Player of the Year earlier this season. She is just the fifth player in La Verne history to earn two First Team All-American honors and only the second three-time All-American (Amy Kratochvil, 2022-2004).

Ray is ranked nationally in a litany of offensive categories. She ranks sixth with 5.25 points per set, 12th with 4.36 kills per set, 12th with 535 total points, and 17th with 445 kills. She also ranks third in La Verne history with 1353 career kills.

Whiteman has made a major impact in her lone season with the Leopards. The opposite from West Covina has blanched the Leopards' attack with her on-court vision. She leads the Leopards with 58 aces, ranks second with 342.5 points, 3.20 points per set, 0.54 aces per set, third with 253 kills.

On Wednesday, the Leopards continue their quest for their fourth national championship and third NCAA title when they face two-time defending NCAA Champion Juniata. La Verne will try to end the Eagles' 94-game win streak. Juniata started their historic streak against the Leopards on September 22, 2022.
