La Verne Trio Earns AVCA All-America Honors; Mya Ray Named 2025 National Player of the Year

LEXINGTON, KY — The University of La Verne women's volleyball program continues its historic run of excellence as three Leopards have been selected to the 2025 AVCA Division III All-America Teams — highlighted by senior outside hitter Mya Ray, who has been named the 2025 AVCA Division III National Player of the Year.

Ray becomes just the third Leopard in program history to earn National Player of the Year recognition and the first since 2003, joining:
  • Amy Smith – 2003 AVCA National Player of the Year
  • Ryan Winn – 2001 National Player of the Year (Volleyball Magazine)
This marks yet another milestone in what has been a remarkable era for La Verne Volleyball.

2025 AVCA All-Americans

Mya RayFirst Team All-American & National Player of the Year
Senior • Outside Hitter

One of the most dominant hitters in the country, Ray caps her legendary career with the sport's top individual honor. Her 2025 season was nothing short of extraordinary as she powered the Leopards through another 28+ win season, a second straight Regional Championship, and a second consecutive trip to the NCAA Elite Eight.

Career & 2025 Season Achievements:
  • First four-time All-American in La Verne history
  • First three-time first-team All-American in La Verne history 
  • Set record for most kills in La Verne history, 1923 and counting (previous record was 1487)
  • 2-time AVCA Division III National Player of the Week
  • 2023, 2024, & 2025 AVCA All-American First Team
  • 2022 AVCA All-American Honorable Mention
  • 2024 & 2025 AVCA Region 10 Player of the Year
  • 2022, 2023, 2024, & 2025 AVCA All-Region First Team
  • 2022 AVCA Region 10 Freshman of the Year
  • First four-time First-Team All-SCIAC selection in school history (2022-25)

Ray's explosive scoring, leadership, and ability to elevate her team on the biggest stages have made her a program-defining player and one of the most decorated Leopards in modern history.

Lauren Gott – Third Team All-American
Junior • Outside Hitter

Gott earns her first career national First Team selection following another standout season as a six-rotation anchor for La Verne.

  • High-impact offensive scorer with elite defensive reliability
  • One of La Verne's most dependable performers and a steadying force in high-pressure match moments. 
Her all-around consistency has made her a vital component of La Verne's attack and a central player in the team's postseason success.

Zacky Coaston – Honorable Mention All-American
Junior • Middle Blocker

Coaston earns her first AVCA All-America honor, adding to a breakout season in which she established herself as one of the most feared blockers in the West Region.

2025 Season & Career Achievements:
  • 2025 AVCA Region 10 First Team
  • 2024 AVCA Region 10 Honorable Mention
  • Set record for most total blocks in La Verne history, 410 and counting
  • 2024 & 2025 First Team All-SCIAC
  • 144 blocks in the 2025 season
  • Among SCIAC leaders in blocks per set and total blocks
  • A dominant defensive presence who strengthens La Verne's transition game and net control
Her year-to-year development has been pivotal in shaping La Verne's imposing front-row identity.

A Historic Moment for La Verne Volleyball
Having three All-Americans—and the National Player of the Year—positions La Verne among the most elite programs in the nation. The trio's honors reflect not only the depth of talent on the roster but also the program's continued national relevance.

This announcement comes on the heels of the Leopards winning their second consecutive NCAA Regional Championship and advancing to the Elite Eight for the second straight season, solidifying La Verne's place among the top contenders in Division III volleyball.
