Leopards Battle to Scoreless Draw in Season Opener

SANTA CRUZ, CA — The University of La Verne men's soccer team opened its 2025 campaign against Pacific University at UC Santa Cruz, battling to a scoreless draw.

Senior goalkeeper Hector Duenas-Pena stood tall in the net for the Leopards, recording three saves to keep the shutout intact. On the offensive end, junior midfielder Aiden Tapia-Palacios led La Verne with three shots on goal.

The Leopards peppered the Boxers with shots in the first half, sending seven attempts towards the goal, forcing Pacific to make three saves. Carlos Cervantes hit a shot off the post just over four minutes into the contest.
