LA VERNE, CA - The No. 7 University of La Verne volleyball team closed out the Pacific Coast Classic with authority on Saturday afternoon, sweeping Case Western Reserve 3-0 to finish the opening weekend of the 2025 season a perfect 3-0.

Game Three: La Verne 3, Case Western Reserve 0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-12)

The Leopards wasted little time in their tournament finale, hitting .290 as a team and controlling the match from start to finish.

Senior Mya Ray powered the Leopard offense, finishing with 20 kills on a blistering .471 hitting percentage to go along with six digs. Junior middle blocker Zacky Coaston capped her strong weekend with seven kills on a .636 clip and a pair of blocks, while junior outside hitter Lauren Gott added seven kills and eight digs. Newcomer Alanna Jones, a junior transfer, made her presence felt with four kills and a team-high six blocks.

The Leopard setters again balanced the attack, junior setter Malia Capistrano tallied 17 assists and served up two aces, with senior setter Vanessa Marquez adding 10 more helpers. In the back row, senior libero Keilani Mumolo led the defensive effort with a match-high 13 digs.

With the win, La Verne completed a flawless weekend at home and in Claremont, defeating St. Olaf, Buffalo State, and Case Western Reserve by a combined 9-2 sets.

The Leopards (3-0) turn their attention to the Whittier Invitational. La Verne opens the weekend at home on Friday, September 5, at 6 p.m. inside The Tents against Whitworth University. They'll then take on Whitman College and UC Santa Cruz on Saturday to follow.
