LA VERNE, CA - The University of La Verne men's soccer team secured its first win of the season with a 2-0 victory over the Park University Gilbert Buccaneers on Thursday night at Ortmayer Stadium.
Midfielder Alexander Bastidas put the Leopards on the board early, scoring just 7:56 into the match to give his team the lead.
With four minutes remaining, defender Hernan Sevilla sealed the result by finding the back of the net for La Verne's second goal.
Goalkeeper and reigning Leopard of the Week Hector Duenas-Pena had another strong performance at the net, making 11 total saves to keep the shutout intact and keep his save percentage at a perfect 1.000 on the season.
