RIVERSIDE, CA — The University of La Verne women's water polo team opened the 2026 season against NCAA DI and DII opponents at the Lancer Joust hosted by Cal Baptist University.
Maya De Guzman led the Leopards in the pair of games with four goals, four drawn exclusions, one steal, and one block.
Newcomer
Ally Ratto from San Joaquin Delta College added three goals, three drawn exclusions, one assist, and one steal in her Leopard debut. Veteran
Brooklyn Young tallied two goals, two steals, and one assist against CBU, her former squad.
De Guzman and Ratto both earned All-Tournament honors.
Dottie Barrera finished with two assists, one goal, and one drawn exclusion. Senior
Maddie Grove and junior transfer
Anika Nichols each scored once. Grove added one assist, two drawn exclusions, and a steal. Nichols led the Leopards with three steals and contributed one block and one drawn exclusion.
In the cage,
Miranda Graham finished with seven saves and two steals.
Kelly Jackson grabbed one save in two quarters of work.
The Leopards fell to DI Cal Baptist 22-6 and DII Azusa Pacific University 18-6.
La Verne plays its home opener on Saturday, January 24, at 4 p.m. against the Virginia Military Institute.
