Leopards Host Tri-Meet Against CMS and Cal Lutheran

LA VERNE, CA - The University of La Verne swim and dive teams welcomed Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges and California Lutheran University to Las Flores Pool on Saturday for a competitive tri-meet. The Leopards showed resilience across a full slate of events, ultimately falling to CMS (Men: 240-32, Women: 238-35) and CLU (Men: 195-55, Women: 218-35).

La Verne opened the meet with two strong relay performances. The men's squad of Josh Jauregui, Avery Thompson, Gabe Graceffa, and Jaden Feliciano posted a 1:46.03 in the 200 medley relay, while the women's team of Neve Dagdagan, Jordan Clarke, Sara Dawidian, and Sydney Yamamoto followed with a 1:59.56. Both groups battled through deep relay fields from CMS and CLU, setting an energetic tone for the rest of the meet.

Freshman Jordan Clarke led the women with the standout swim of the day, winning her heat of the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:09.83. Clarke continued her strong performance later in the meet, placing 6th in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:20.12.

On the men's side, Jaden Feliciano delivered two of La Verne's top finishes, placing 5th in the 50 freestyle (22.63) before earning a 3rd-place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.60. Avery Thompson added a solid swim in the 100 free with a time of 52.25, while Gabe Graceffa contributed in the distance events with a 1:54.99 in the 200 free and a 5:23.63 in the 500 freestyle.

The women continued to add depth throughout the meet, as Sydney Yamamoto posted consistent performances in the freestyle events, swimming a 2:08.49 in the 200 free and a 5:41.74 in the 500. Neve Dagdagan also contributed across multiple events, including a 1:00.11 in the 100 freestyle and a 1:05.18 in the 100 backstroke.

In diving, Shaun Concepcion represented the Leopards on both boards, recording scores of 170.40 on the 3-meter and 189.95 on the 1-meter events.

Up Next

The Leopards will return to competition on Saturday January 31, traveling to Whittier for an 11 a.m. dual meet against the Poets.
