Leopards Turn in Strong Performances to Open 2026 Against Chapman

LA VERNE, CA - The University of La Verne swim and dive team opened the new year with a dual meet against Chapman University on Saturday afternoon at Las Flores Pool.

Freshman Jordan Clarke once again led the Leopards on the women's side with an impressive showing across multiple events. Clarke captured a first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:32.81 and added a runner-up performance in the 400-yard individual medley, touching the wall at 4:54.46. She also contributed to both the 200 and 400 freestyle relays for La Verne.

Fellow freshman Sydney Yamamoto continued her strong start to the season with a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.68) and a fourth-place showing in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:45.94). Yamamoto also played a key role on the Leopards' relay squads throughout the meet.

Junior Neve Dagdagan delivered consistent performances, finishing second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:30.03) and adding points in the 200-yard backstroke. Dagdagan anchored La Verne's "A" relay teams in both the 200 and 400 medley relays.

On the men's side, Jaden Feliciano led the way with a third-place swim in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:11.56.

In diving action, senior Shaun Concepcion represented La Verne on both boards, placing fifth in the 3-meter and 1-meter competitions.

La Verne also earned strong results in relay competition, highlighted by a third-place finish in the women's 200-yard medley relay as Neve Dagdagan, Jordan Clarke, Lily Florez, and Delaney Morris posted a time of 2:00.51. The same quartet followed with another third-place showing in the 400-yard medley relay, finishing in 4:22.98.

The Leopards will look to build on Saturday's performances when they return to action on Saturday, January 17, hosting Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 11 a.m. at Las Flores Pool.
