Leopards Down Caltech in Pasadena

PASADENA, CA — Brooklyn Young netted five goals, Ally Ratto and Anika Nichols each scored three, and the University of La Verne women's water polo team rolled to a 13-9 win at Caltech Saturday evening.

Young did her job creating opportunities, distributing a game-high four assists, and drawing two exclusions. Kaitalin Smith and Madison Coss each added a goal. Smith finished with two assists, and Coss added one. 

Nichols played an outstanding all-around game, totaling two assists, three steals, and three drawn exclusions.

The Leopards started hot, taking a 3-0 lead in the first, with goals from Nichols, Ratto, and Young. La Verne took a 7-5 lead into the break thanks to three second-quarter goals from Young.

La Verne outscored the Beavers 3-1 in the final quarter to come away with the win.

Miranda Graham played big in the cage, grabbing nine saves with one steal.

Nany Trinh tallied two steals, one drawn exclusion, and one assist.

 Next Game

The Leopards continue SCIAC action on Wednesday, March 18, when they host Redlands at 6 p.m.
