University of La Verne

Thalia Perez Vieco graduated from Wingate University this last Spring where she was playing for the Women's golf team. She is now beginning her coaching career at the University of La Verne and look forward to building on that experience. 

She got into coaching through her own experience as a collegiate student-athlete. Golf has been a major part of her life since I was very young, and after graduating from Wingate University, she wanted to stay involved in the sport while helping other student-athletes grow and succeed. 

Perez-Vieco was drawn to the University of La Verne because of its commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the course, as well as the opportunity to combine two of her passions: golf and psychology. She was also excited to work with Coach Alec Spencer, whose experience, leadership, and emphasis on creating a strong team culture align with the type of coach and mentor she hopes to become. La Verne’s welcoming and supportive team environment felt like a great fit for her and an ideal place to continue growing both personally and professionally. 

She previously played at Wingate University, in North Carolina.

She competed at the NCAA Division II level and earned All-South Atlantic Conference honors. She competed in both the 2025 and 2026 NCAA Division II National Championships, helping Wingate make program history by reaching its first-ever national quarterfinals and later the national semifinals. Her team also won back-to-back South Atlantic Conference championships. In addition to her athletic accomplishments, she was recognized as a WGCA All-American Scholar by the Women's Golf Coaches Association.

"What excites me about coaching at the Division III level is the opportunity to experience a different side of collegiate golf and continue expanding my knowledge of the game. I’m looking forward to learning a new competitive environment, being involved in the preparation that goes into each tournament, and using my playing experience to help our golfers develop and perform with confidence."
