Alison Chevalier joined the University of La Verne Athletics Department as the Athletic Administrative Manager in the spring of 2023.
Chevalier manages and maintains all athletic department budgets, purchase orders, and payments. She is also the administrative liaison for the women’s volleyball and women’s basketball programs and has been on multiple head coach search committees, including serving as the head of both the softball coach and men’s soccer coach committees.
She came to La Verne after serving as the Director of Operations with the Poets’ Athletics Department, where she was in charge of setting up, staffing, and running home athletic contests for all 22 sports. She also organized and inventoried gear, equipment, and uniforms for all the programs. She was also the equipment manager of the Poets’ football team and was in charge of processing orders for all department purchasing needs.
Chevalier managed the athletic department's calendar and oversaw hiring, scheduling, and managing all athletic department work study students. Additionally, she coordinated with the facilities department on all facility-related repairs and maintenance.
An esteemed volleyball coach and player, Chevalier has held a variety of coaching positions throughout high school, club, and collegiate sports. In 2011, she began as an assistant coach at Pasadena City College while simultaneously working as the head coach of the Pacific Juniors Volleyball Club. After one year at PCC, she moved to St. Lucy’s Priory High School as head coach for the freshman and junior varsity teams while assisting with the varsity girls. Under her guidance, the junior varsity and freshmen teams won the Baseline League every season. The varsity squad won the CIF Championship in 2011 and appeared in the tournament from 2012-2014.
Chevalier was a substitute teacher with Glendora Unified School District in 2014 while coaching at PJVC. Her high school-aged girls’ squad competed in the top-ranked gold division of the Southern California Volleyball Association yearly while developing their technical and teamwork skills.
She returned to collegiate coaching in her first stint at Whittier College serving as an assistant coach and assessing potential recruits for the program. Chevalier, along with the rest of the Poets’ staff, was recognized as the 2016 SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year.
For the next two years, Chevalier was the assistant coach and eventual interim head coach of the volleyball program at Southeastern Louisiana University. She was the sole recruiter for the NCAA D1 program and served as the team’s academic liaison, enabling their success and excellence on and off the court.
Chevalier returned to California in 2020, working at Momentum Health and Wellness Institute for six months as a chiropractic assistant and Newport Academy for another six, where she was a Care Coordinator and Youth Mentor.
Chevalier, a native of Glendora, graduated from Westmont College in 2011 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology. She was a two-sport athlete for the Warriors, excelling in both volleyball and track and field. As a senior, she led the Warriors with 36.2 kills. She also set the Westmont record for the discus throw at 40.30 meters (132-3) and the hammer throw at 44.81 meters (147-0). She left Westmont as the fourth-best athlete in the shot put after a mark of 11.99 meters (39-4).
She resides in Chino Hills with her wife, Justine.
