A man of faith and a devoted father of six, Coach Lewis is passionate about football, education, mentorship, and developing young men both on and off the field. He is the proud father of four daughters and two sons: Jordan, who attends UCS and is pursuing a degree in Pre-Law; James, 13; Taylor, 11; Grace, 7; Mia, 6; and Cameron, 4.
Coach Lewis began his playing career at Venice High School, where he earned All-American honors in 2004. He continued his football career at the collegiate level, playing at Mississippi State University, Eastern Arizona College, and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He earned a degree in Education.
His coaching career began at Venice High School, where he coached from 2012 through 2021, serving in multiple roles, including Defensive Coordinator, Special Teams Coordinator, and Offensive Coordinator. During his time at Venice, he helped develop several Division I-caliber athletes, including Luca Diemont, a quarterback who went on to play at Duke; Chad Johnson Jr., a wide receiver who played at Arizona State; and Justin Caulley, an athlete who went on to play at Montana State.
In addition to his high school coaching experience, Coach Lewis served as an Assistant Wide Receivers Coach at Santa Monica College from 2016–2017. He also gained international coaching experience in China, working with an NFL development team during the 2015–2016 period.
For nine years, Coach Lewis worked with Adidas and renowned quarterback development coach Steve Clarkson, gaining extensive experience in player development, quarterback training, recruiting, and performance development.
Coach Lewis later joined Graceland University, where he coached from 2022–2024. During his time at Graceland, he served as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach for one season before transitioning to coach Wide Receivers, Tight Ends, and Running Backs. He also served as the program's Recruiting Coordinator.
During the 2022–2023 season, Coach Lewis was selected as the conference's Assistant Coach of the Year, becoming the first Graceland University assistant coach in 30 years to receive the honor. Under his leadership, the program experienced significant individual and team success.
He coached multiple All-American players, including quarterback Cade Ross and wide receiver Gerold Monroe. Monroe was also recognized as the Conference Offensive Player of the Year, while Ross earned Conference Freshman of the Year honors. In total, six of his players earned All-Conference recognition: Cade Ross, Gerold Monroe, Reggie Wilson, Tre Blake, Felix Wade, and Adarius Thomas.
Throughout his career, Coach Lewis has built his coaching philosophy around faith, family, player development, discipline, leadership, and creating opportunities for young athletes to reach their full potential. His experiences as a player, educator, coach, recruiter, and father have shaped a coaching approach focused not only on winning football games, but on developing successful young men for life beyond the game.
