Currently in his second year coaching Tight Ends and Offensive Line at the University of La Verne, he helped guide two All-Conference Linemen during the 2024 season: Bernardo Brito and Jal Chan. His coaching experience includes roles at Sacramento State (Offensive & Special Teams Quality Control Assistant, TEs 2022), Laney Junior College (Video Coordinator/Assistant Coach, 2021 Golden State Bowl Champions), Vanden High School (OL Coach, 2022 D4 San Joaquin Section Champions), Pinole Valley High School (RBs Coach, 2024), and St. Patrick-St. Vincent High School (OL/DL Coach, 2021 Spring DAL Champions).

Fernandez has worked with multiple standout athletes, including All-Region Lineman Kayson Dahl (Vanden) and All-League Running Back Maddox Wu (PVHS). He has contributed to championship-winning teams, emphasizing player development, technical growth, and off-field leadership.

A former Offensive Lineman at the University of La Verne, Fernandez was a member of the 2015 SCIAC Championship team and brings a player’s perspective and leadership background, having served on the Leopard Football Unity Council while playing Left Guard. He attended St. Patrick-St. Vincent High School in Vallejo, where he was a Team Captain, Lineman of the Year, and helped lead the team to two playoff appearances (2013, 2014). He holds a Bachelor’s in Communications and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Education with a PE Teaching Credential.

A first-generation college graduate from the Bay Area communities of Hercules and Vallejo, Julius draws inspiration from the coaches who shaped his journey, including Brennan Marion, Lane Hawkins, Tom Martinez, Joel Isaac, Devin Nonies, and many more. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends. He is driven to build both successful football programs and, more importantly, young men prepared for life beyond the field.
