Sydney Ferris, an alumna of the University of La Verne joined our Athletics Department this Spring as a Sports Information Graduate Assistant. Ferris graduated in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations and brings a wealth of skills and sports knowledge to our team. 
 
Ferris transferred to ULV in Fall 2022 after attending Mount San Antonio College for two years. During her time at La Verne, she was a highly involved student leader, serving as an executive board member of Phi Sigma Sigma, Programming Chair for Order of Omega, and the Campus Activities Board Publicity Chair. She was also a member of the Sports Media Club and a writer for both the La Verne Magazine and Campus Times, where she covered the baseball and softball teams during Spring 2023.
 
Her writing earned her multiple awards, including a second-place honor in sports writing and a first-place award for her magazine story, “Telling the Story of President Nixon.” She was also honored as the 2024 Public Relations Student of the Year and graduated with departmental and university honors. 
 
Beyond La Verne, Ferris interned as Baseball Operations Assistant with the Arroyo Seco Saints of the California Collegiate League this past summer. In this role, she was responsible for pre-game setup and post-game take down, managed all in game stadium operations, served as a liaison between the Saints and visiting teams, handled transportation plans and much more. She also served as a broadcaster, and helped the General Manager with responsibilities as well. She is a big sports fan and spends her free time watching the Los Angeles Angels and her other favorite teams.
 
Ferris is pursuing her Master’s in Management and Leadership with an emphasis in Organizational Development. She aspires to work in sports communications.
