Women's Soccer Scores Two First Half Goals, Beats Redlands 2-1

REDLANDS, CA — The University of La Verne women's soccer team traveled to the University of Redlands. Wednesday night looking to get back into the win column. The Leopards scored two first-half goals and held off the Bulldogs in the second half for a 2-1 win.

"We have been playing good soccer all year. Tonight we played good soccer and finished our opportunities. As a coaching staff, we could not be more proud of the way our women responded tonight after a hard loss last game, said La Verne women's soccer head coach Lauryn Pehanich.

"Character is shown by how you respond in tough times and the women responded with a bang. We have four games left and will take each one at a time. We are ready to finish strong."

Alison Flores got the Leopards started when she scored on an assist by Serenity De la Torre at 17:13, giving La Verne the early lead.

"Everyone put in good work and we were all competitive for 90 minutes. That helped us to pull out the win tonight," said Flores.

Redlands evened the game at 27:15 when Sami Salinas found the back of the net.

But Kylie Klein scored what proved to be the difference maker a few minutes later and the Leopards held on for the 2-1 victory.

"I am really proud of all of us. We have put in a lot of work this season and it showed tonight. We are very happy with the result and are very excited for what's next," Klein added.

La Verne bombarded the Bulldogs' defense taking 25 shots compared to Redlands' 11. Abigail Macedo had three key saves in the win
