REDLANDS, CA — The University of La Verne men's soccer team traveled to take on the University of Redlands looking to avenge a 2-1 late-goal loss to the Bulldogs last week.
The Leopards defended an offensive onslaught from Redlands, turning away 29 shots during the game. La Verne turned up the pressure but could not convert the five second-half shots against the first-place Bulldogs as the game ended ina 0-0 draw.
"It was a very organized and hard-fought game vs Redlands. Our team committed to the game plan and performed well in the areas we stressed. Redlands is a very very good team and we held strong," said University of La Verne head men's soccer coach
Trevor Persson.
Junior goalkeeper Hector Duenas-Pena had five outstanding saves solidifying the defensive effort.
"Both sides had chances to score and we are disappointed in not finishing some quality chances. Our last few weeks have been fun to be a part of in terms of game management and execution, minus the hiccup late against Redlands last week. We look forward to Cal Lutheran this Saturday," said Persson
La Verne will host Cal Lutheran University on Saturday, October 21st at 7 P.M.
