LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne's volleyball team hosted the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens Saturday evening, falling in four sets.
La Verne took command early, taking set one from the Sagehens 25-20. But the Sagehens battled back in the third set to take a 24-20 lead. The Leopards rallied to tie the set 24-24 but Pomona-Pitzer scored the last two points to even the set total.
It was a similar story in the final two sets with the Sagehens taking a slight advantage early and La Verne staying within a few points. But both times the visitors held off the Leopards' threats.
