LA VERNE, CA — Maren Handel has been named Second Team All-SCIAC for women's soccer the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced Thursday.

"Maren was a tremendous addition to our backline this year. As an incoming freshmen to be able to deny many of the top forwards in the conference is a tough task and Maren did it with ease. We are very excited for her future with the Leopard program," said University of La Verne women's soccer head coach Lauryn Pehanich.

The freshman defender from La Habra led La Verne's defense to three shutout performances and helped hold teams to just one goal seven times. 

She even netted a goal in a home game against Occidental.
