Women's Basketball Fall to Tough HIU Squad

FULLERTON, CA — The University of La Verne women's basketball team traveled to Fullerton, to take on Hope International University, falling 83-63. This was the Leopards' final game before opening SCIAC competition.

The Leopards started off slow in the 1st, unable to connect from distance in the quarter, going 2-14 from the field.

La Verne pushed back in the second with 47 percent from the field, however, the Leopards were couldn't keep pace with the Royals.

Senior Chiara Brown led the charge for the Leopards with a double-double scoring 19 points with 10 boards. Freshman Alyssa Smith also had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

"They are a really good, well-coached team and made us pay for mistakes that we made both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. We saw some bright spots and just need to continue to string those together in these tough games. We will look to bounce back at home Wednesday versus Caltech," said University of La Verne women's basketball head coach Anthony Mason.

The Leopards will host the Caltech Beavers Wednesday, November 29th at 7 P.M.
