LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne men's basketball team could not hold off the Albion College Britons in a physical battle, falling 85-80.
The Leopards got to within three late when
Kyler Harvey knocked down a three to make the second 79-76, but La Verne couldn't get any closer.
Junior guard
Dahmaj Warren led the Leopards with 22 points, doing most of his damage from the charity stripe, going 14-19. He earned his first double-double with ten boards in the game.
La Verne big man
Keith Stewart was perfect from the field, going 5-5 and 2-2 from deep for 15 points. Stewart led a one-man, 5-0 run to get the Leopards to within two points, 60-58 with 9:18 left to play.
Orange Coast College transfer
Logen Howard added 12 points and two steals.
The Leopards led by seven going into the half but lost the lead for good just under seven minutes into the second half when a layup by AJ Barden put the Britons up 13:20.
The Leopards fell to 3-4 overall and will be traveling to Las Vegas for the D3 Hoops Classic to take on Husson University on December 28th at 2 p.m. and Rhodes College on December 30 at 2 p.m. Both games will be hosted at South Point Arena.
